Because it is RIGHT NOW.

Because every seat has a different perspective and every performance is a different show.

Because theater shows us, time and time again, what a piece of work man is.

Because they don’t call it a “play” for nothing.

Because, like life, theater is brief.

Because magic can be made by the mixture of actor and words.

Because it requires listening.

Because, done well, it can make people listen for hours to the stories of kings and the stories of cats.

Because, through it, we pay attention to the stories of people who are not us.

Because the muse of fire shows up when you aren’t expecting it.

Because out of the fog of the mind comes shades of character and a story of sorts and then, miraculously, it is happening over there, apart from you, on the stage.

Because actors are beautiful.

Because I have no choice.
